Reading books will be coming home this week. Here is how you can help you child with words they are not sure of.

When reading I am beginning to monitor my own reading and can sometimes identify when fix up strategies need to be used by:

a)           Cross checking cue sources

§ Does it make sense?

§ Does it sound right?

§ Does it look right? (look for and sound out chunks I know in words)

b)            Rereading a word, phrase or sentence

c)           Reading on.
