Our Tree

We are learning to observe the environment around us.  We used our senses to describe the tree in our classroom.

The children's observation of sight, smell, touch, hearing were recorded.  We then chose the most interesting words to create a poem about our tree.

Our Tree
Droopy leaves fall down dying
Leaves smell like rubbish bins
Hard, spiky, gummy trunk.
Shaking leaves sound like rain.
Crunch!

Chrysanthemum

We read the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.
This is the story a little mouse with a very long name.  She and her family loved her name. She loved the way it sounded and the way it looked when it was written.  When she started school the other children were not so kind about her name.

Our poem for week 2, was about our names.
